Welcome to Sydney in WinterWINTER is a fantastic time to visit Sydney. When it's raining outside there's no better time to visit one of the many exhibitions and indoor attractions. For something a little more exciting see the ACTION! pages (12 & 13). The Sydney Explorer and Bondi Explorer buses make it very easy to see Sydney at its best. Just hop on and off if something takes your fancy (p.2). We have also compiled a few highlights (p.7 & 8), together with an extensive list of what's on in and around the city (p.46). Check out Sydney Olympic Park which always has something to see and do (perhaps a Segway tour p.27). The vibrant food scene has many and varied places to wine and dine. Our ÔWhere to eat' section on page 43 caters for all tastes and styles of cuisine. However you decide to spend your stay, have a fantastic time in Sydney. Visit us at www.thisweekinsydney.com Introduction to SydneySydney's striking harbour, with twin icons the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, define this vibrant, multicultural city and its culture of the outdoors. The CBD is dominated by office towers, many of which are regional headquarters for international corporations. Take a ferry ride to Manly or Taronga Zoo or join a harbour sightseeing tour to fully appreciate the city's beauty. For a real thrill, and fine views, climb the Harbour Bridge. Sydney is a city that is easily explored on foot. Start at the historic Rocks precinct, birthplace of the Australian nation, and walk around the harbour foreshore to the Sydney Opera House via Circular Quay. Along the way, stop for an alfresco dining experience and watch the people of Sydney pass you by. The Sydney Opera House has guided tours which take you inside the main halls and the view across to the Sydney Harbour Bridge is quite memorable. Nearby are the splendid Sydney Botanical Gardens with a large plant collection, rolling lawns, harbour views and an interesting visitor information centre. From the gardens it is only a short walk to the Sydney CBD, and, to the west of the city, Darling Harbour. Be sure to take a day trip to the Blue Mountains, just two hours drive west of the CBD, for pretty mountain scenery and arts and craft shopping. The Hunter valley, around three hours drive north of Sydney, is one of Australia's premier wine-making districts. Whatever your choice of Sydney attractions, you'll find all the details within this site. As well, the best Sydney dining, shopping and accommodation options are listed. Finally, be sure to meet the friendly locals and enjoy your stay. Contact Us | How to Advertise | Disclaimer | Site map | Web Site Design | Web Site Text |
